Billiard Balls & Angles
Interactive pool table simulation — learn about angles of incidence and reflection, practice bank shots and cut shots with 10 challenge scenarios, then play a full 2-player 8-ball game.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does this tool teach?
This tool teaches the physics of angles through billiards. You'll learn about the angle of incidence equaling the angle of reflection (how balls bounce off walls), momentum transfer between balls in elastic collisions, and how to plan bank shots and cut shots using geometry.
How do I aim and shoot?
Click and drag from the white cue ball to aim — pull back like a slingshot. The further you drag, the more power you apply. Release to shoot! You can also toggle the guide line to see where your shot will go.
What are the challenge scenarios?
There are 10 progressive challenges: straight shots, angled shots, bank shots (using wall bounces), combo shots (hitting one ball into another), and more. Each challenge has a par score — try to complete them in as few shots as possible to earn 3 stars!
How does the 2-player game work?
It's simplified 8-ball! 15 balls are racked in a triangle. Player 1 breaks, then players alternate turns. The first ball pocketed determines who plays solids (1-7) and who plays stripes (9-15). Pocket all your balls, then sink the 8-ball to win!
